|  In 1994, Giovane Elber de Souza arrived in Germany as a fresh-faced 22-year-old after joining VfB Stuttgart from Swiss club Grasshoppers Zürich, with whom he had spent the three previous seasons  Three years down the line, the Brazilian won the DFB Cup at the end of his final campaign with the Swabians, scoring both goals in the 2-0 final victory over Energie Cottbus.
